National
After-School All-Stars grew out of Inner-City Games, an initiative founded in Los Angeles in 1991 to positively influence and inspire at-risk children and youth. In 1995, then chairman Arnold Schwarzenegger founded the Inner-City Games Foundation in order to expand the program nationwide. As Inner-City Games continued to grow and reach more youth in new cities, the Foundation recognized the need for more comprehensive programming beyond the sports-based model. In 2003, the name was changed to After-School All-Stars, and the program model expanded to include Academics, Enrichment, and Health& Fitness.
After-School All-Stars currently has programs in 13 U.S. cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco Bay Area and South Florida.

Chicago Chapter
The Chicago Chapter of the After-School All-Stars-- originally founded as Inner-City Games-- was established in July, 2002 through the school district, Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Beginning as a 23 site program focusing on intramural sports, ASAS Chicago now serves approximately 250 schools across the city. Each of our schools designs its own curriculum to meet specific local needs and interests; however, all of our sites are committed to providing a comprehensive after-school experience that includes our three core components: academics, enrichment, and health and fitness. Classes may include any of the following: art, drama, dance, healthy cooking and fitness, science club, technology, and yoga, just to name a few!
After-School All-Stars … where all kids are a lifetime investment.
