National After-School All-Stars

our mission

The mission of After-School All-Stars (ASAS) is to provide comprehensive out-of-school time programs that keep children safe and help them succeed in school and in life.

In Chicago, ASAS programs engage Chicago Public School (CPS) students in structured enrichment and recreation activities to create a comprehensive after-school program for 4 hours each week, 20 weeks per year. These hours are in addition to the 4 hours of academic Supplemental Educational Services (SES) some students receive.

Programs often include: sports, dance, drama, art, technology, leadership, and healthy cooking. Approximately 250 CPS schools are part of the ASAS program during the current 2010-2011 school year.
